Middle Eastern Dance, also called Bellydancing, or,in Europe, La Danse Orientale, is native to the ancient MiddleEast. It was widely spread by migrations of Rom and othertribal peoples, from India, north to Turkey and west to Spain– with Egypt becoming a renowned center of the art form inmodern times. In our global age, Cairo now as well hostsrespected dancers from Asia, Europe and the USA.
Bellydancing gives gentle, strengthening exerciseto the whole body with an emphasis on the belly and thighs.This class will introduce torso movements and rhythmsfundamental to this art form. Students will try dancing withscarves and veils! Wear loose, comfortable clothing or dancewear and please bring a large scarf for the hips.
